Feb. 10th, 2004 03:31 pmI turned 23 last Saturday. That tells us two things:
- with my birthday being a week after my sister's, and eight days before my mother's, we have a concentration of birthdays that is statistically unlikely, assuming that births are spread evenly over the year. Most of our family was born around the end of January-beginning of February though, suggesting some sort of connection here. Or possibly a sinister conspiracy:)
- I am an Aquarius
It's striking how people who know you well, give you gifts that on their own speak volumes about the kind of person you are, and people who don't know you can be off so far with their gift. I got an oak waster (wooden practice sword) from my parents, sister and Twilight, a book gift certificate from my favourite cousin and 'Art of Return of the King' from Twilight's mother, all of them gifts I love and will certainly get a lot of mileage out of. On the other side, my sister's sort-of-ex gave me a Douglas gift certificate, and I also received some flowers and a flowering bulb in a pot. I don't buy lipstick, perfume or anything like that much. I don't wear it really, and it seems like a waste of money. Besides, they're not likely to have anything priced at ten euros or less, so this will likely end up costing me money for something I don't really need in the first place. I may actually end up selling the gift certificate if anyone's interested. As for the flowers, I'm terrible at keeping anything green alive for very long, and I have an irrational aversion to cut flowers. Picking flowers for the sole purpose of watching them die slowly in a vase just somehow feels wasteful and selfish to me.
