So we got mentioned in the State of the Union. Whoopde-frelling-doo.
When you take a picture, you ask someone's permission to use it, when you interview someone, you let them read the article first. Nobody asked us if we wanted to be mentioned as one of the nations that are apparently too stupid to understand why the United States are criticised for acting as they did. As a matter of fact, most people I know were against the way the US handled this, even if they did agree that yes, Saddam Hussein was a bad person and a cruel ruler and terribly lacking in general fluffiness.
A friend of mine in the US was surprised to hear exactly how may Europeans had gone out and protested against the war on Iraq. His mainstream media sources of information had led him to believe it was 'just a bunch of hippies' (his words). Now these are the people who hear us mentioned as suck up slime. I do not feel represented by the government we have in place right now, yet it is allowed to make decisions in our name. Decisions to support a renegade nation's actions that have seriously destabilized international politics. Let me just note I did not vote for these idiots.
I am uncomfortable about being mentioned this way, without any chance of defending ourselves. I feel embarrassed when I see our prime minister speaking semi-English to impress mr Shrub in the five minutes he gets before Latvia or Poland have their turn to kiss the presidential butt. I am ashamed to say that our very own JP could not crawl further up Bush' butt without him coughing up that dreadful pudding bowl haircut.
I'm proud to be Dutch...maar nu even niet.

I am so very very proud that we supported a war that finnaly fulfilled the president's dream to better his daddy.

En ik ben ervan overtuigd dat meneer de President van de Verenigde Staten dit standpunt met mij deelt."
