steelweaverSo Fri-Sun there was the Elf Fantasy Fair. As always, I had too many plans for costumes and I had had grossly underestimated the amount of work involved. To start with, my maille shirt was nowhere near a wearable state so I didn't even bother to bring it to Twilight's. Still, I was hoping to finish the leather layer that was supposed to go with it...but we had to abandon that project as well. We finally concentrated on finishing my Yavanna jacket/dress for the third day. We managed to miss the sign up deadline for the costume contest on the second day because we were still working on the green outfit, but I did get a few ooh's and ah's with my white dress.
The green outfit worked out wonderfully, and I was very happy with it. Didn't end up winning anything, and nor did Xander, but we really enjoyed the compliments people gave us. Xander was really great about all of this...he even stayed up past midnight with me, sewing on buttons around one AM, working towards each other and giving each other a little kiss (and breathing a sigh of relief) when we met each other in the middle, and the work was done. He's been a real trooper and I sincerely hope I won't put him through this next year. At least I intend to keep working on the armour bits in the next few weeks so they will be done far ahead of my next deadline. I owe him that much.
